Itinerary

May 25-June 2, 2008

 

Day 1: Depart from the USA.

 

Day 2: Paris   Bienvenue! Paris greets you today. You have a carnet of Métro tickets to help you explore the city. Discover your café du quartier and try your first café crème!

 

Day 3: Paris   A local guide shows you the city’s most famous monuments-from Notre Dame Cathedral and the Arc de Triomphe to the Eiffel Tower. This afternoon use your ACIS Walking Tour to discover the beautiful Louvre. The balance of the afternoon is free. A boat ride along the Seine, followed by a climb up the Eiffel Tower, are tonight’s highlights.

 

Day 4: Paris   Today there is a full day excursion to the châteaux of the Loire Valley where French kings in the Middle Ages and Renaissance spent their summers. Visit Chambord and Chenonceau. Enjoy free time in the quaint town of Amboise.

 

Day 5: Paris   Enjoy exploration time in Paris today. You may want to learn about Impressionist art at the Musée d’Orsay, sample French crepes, or shop for souvenirs.

 

Day 6: Paris   Enjoy a full day excursion to Chartres Cathedral, the best known example of Gothic architecture. Next, drive to Louis XIV’s palace at Versailles, including the Hall of Mirrors. Choose an optional dinner at a Parisian classic, the Bouteille d’Or restaurant opposite Notre Dame.

 

Day 7: Paris   This morning enjoy an excursion to Claude Monet’s home in Giverny. Explore the beautiful gardens and lily ponds that inspired his famous water lily paintings. (In the event that Giverny is closed, a guided visit of the Musee d’Orsay will be substituted.) Return to Paris for exploration time.

 

Day 8: Paris   Today is free to explore Paris at your leisure. Don’t forget to stop at a pâtisserie and pick up some pastries that make France so famous! Or how about catching up on your last minute shopping at the Galeries Lafayette or window shopping down the exclusive Rue du Faubourg St. Honoré?

 

Day 9: Depart for the USA.
