In 1988 I became the Academic Dean in the high school at Greater Atlanta Christian School after completing my doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of Georgia. Prior to working at GACS, I taught English in public schools in Kentucky and Illinois.
For the past eleven years, I have also taught one English class each fall and spring semester at the college level. Teaching a college class keeps me apprised of current college expectations while I assist GACS high school teachers in preparing our college preparatory curriculum.
I have been a member of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators for the past 25 years. I also maintain membership in the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
One of the best parts of my job is directing the International Studies Class. I have the delightful privilege of taking students abroad each year. We always travel during Spring Break and often travel at other times as well. During Spring Break April 2-11, 2008, we are traveling to Greece, the Greek Islands, and to Rome. Additionally, after school is out, we will travel to Paris, France, May 25-June 2, 2008.
During Spring Break 2006, students asked me to take them to China. Walking on the Great Wall was one of my best travel experiences. I can hardly wait to return to China. If all goes well, we will tour China again during Spring Break, 2009. Several of the students who toured China asked me to take them back to Asia during the summer of 2008. The students designed our two week trip to Thailand for June 10-23, 2008. Check out my web site to see how you can be a part of these life changing travel experiences.
My husband Jerry and I had another life changing experience this past summer when we made our second mission trip to Honduras. We served on a mission team from Campus C hurch of Christ . I will be forever changed by this experience, and I look forward to serving in other mission fields in the future.
