Welcome to English 9 and English 10! It is going to be another outstanding year at GACS as we celebrate 40 years of Legacy on this campus. Since a lot of information about the past will be presented this school year, it is appropriate that you know a bit about my past as well.
This is my 13th year of teaching high school English. It is my 7th year at GACS. My previous teaching experience is in the state of Missouri. I have taught every level of English from 9th grade all the way to Ph. D. students during my career. As many of those who have been at GACS for a while may know, GACS sponsored my family and me to go to Qingdao, China three years ago to teach and do missionary work. That was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career and there are definite Chinese influences and memories displayed in my classroom.
I am also the head coach for the Lady Spartans Lacrosse team. We will be playing a varsity schedule for the 1st time this season. Anyone interested in trying out should let me know as soon as possible so that I can get the correct paperwork to them.
I have been married for 18 years to my wife, Becky, and have twin daughters, Summar and Savannah, who are starting 1st grade this year at GACS. My wife teaches 4th grade at Lawrenceville Elementary in the Gwinnett Public School System. I am also currently in graduate school through Piedmont College and will be completing my Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction in April 2008. This will enhance my MA in English, my BSE in English Education and my BA in Mass Communication.
I hope that everyone in the class has a great experience with English and with GACS. My door is always open and you can feel free to email me or contact me at any time during the school year if there are questions.
