William Anderson (Andy) Eley
I was born in Lewisburg, (Marshall County) Tennessee on September 18, 1947. Shortlyafter I was born, my family moved to Shelbyville, (Bedford County) Tennessee where I resided until going off to college. Shelbyville has been known as the center for Tennessee Walking horses and the premiere program for girls' High School basketball.

After graduating from high school in 1965, I attended a junior college in Montgomery, Alabama called Alabama Christian College. While attending, I was a member of the college chorus, men’s quartet, and Vice President of the Student Council. Upon graduating in 1967, I received the President’s Award. In the fall of 1967, I attended Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas and graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor’s degree in 1969.
In August of 1969, I began teaching science in high school at Alabama Christian High School in Montgomery, Alabama. While teaching, I received my teacher certification from Auburn University and then a Master of Education degree from Troy State University in Troy, Alabama. From 1969 to 1978, I taught Biology and Chemistry in the high school then became the High School Principal for the years 77-79. In the school year of 79-80, I was a junior college instructor at Alabama Christian College where I taught Zoology and Botany. At the end of that year, I left the educational field and entered into the business world.
The next 12 years of my life was centered around construction doing commercial construction in Alabama, Georgia and mainly Florida. During that time, I lived in Panama City, Tallahassee, Samson, and Tampa, Florida. With a lot of prayer and soul searching, I realized that I needed to return to my first love, teaching. I re-entered the teaching profession in 1992 teaching science in high school at the satellite campus of GAC in McDonough, Georgia (Henry County). At that campus, I had additional coaching responsibilities in football, basketball, and baseball. I served as assistant boys' basketball coach when in 93, the boys won the state championship in the GISA, I-A classification. After serving at the McDonough campus for two years, I was invited to be a part of the main campus here in Norcross. My initial responsibility was teaching Physical Science in the junior high. After two years, I moved to the high school where I have been teaching Chemistry for the past 14 years. Over that period of time, I have coached JV baseball for two years, taught Drivers Education for 9 years, and assisted in football for the past 14 years. I am chairman of the science department and a sponsor
for the 10th grade.
