The study of music is a vital component of a well-rounded education.  In fact, according to a recent Harris Poll, 79% agree that incorporating music into education is the first step in adding back what’s missing in education today.  Thanks to a growing body of research, there is now ample evidence to show that the benefits of music education extend far beyond their intrinsic worth.  Studies show that learning in music promotes critical thinking skills, enhances spatial temporal reasoning, fosters the growth of positive social skills and provides powerful motivation for students to persist in school.  Music provides multiple hooks for grasping and processing knowledge in a variety of ways—verbal, aural, kinesthetic—so that every child can be successful in the classroom, and in life.

Embracing this philosophy, our mission statement is:

The GACS School of Music was created to give students the opportunity to develop technical skills, improve musicianship, enhance artistic expression: but above all, to explore, enjoy, and share with others God’s wonderful gift of music.

O sing the Lord a new song

For He has done marvelous things;

With His own right hand and with His Holy arm

He hath gotten Himself the victory.

The Lord declareth His salvation,

His righteousness hath He openly shown

in the sight of the heathen.

He hath remembered His mercy and truth

toward the house of Israel,

And all the ends of the earth hath seen the salvation

of our God.

Shout for joy to the Lord, all ye lands,

Burst into jubilant song with music;

Praise the Lord upon the harp,

Sing to the Lord a song of thanksgiving,

With trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn ---

Show yourselves joyful before the Lord you King.

Let the sea make a noise and all that therein is,

The round world, and they that dwell therein.

Let the floods clap their hands,

And let the mountains sing together for joy;

Let them sing before the Lord,

For he cometh to judge the earth.

With righteousness shall He judge the world

and the peoples with equity.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son to the Holy Ghost.

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be:

World without end.

Amen.
