Irish Dance 1  An introduction to the fundamentals of Irish step dancing and Irish ceili (pronounce KAY-lee) dancing.  Students will learn the proper foot positioning and carriage and beginning level steps in both light jig and reel as they are introduced to some of the different time signatures and rhythms of Irish Dance.  No prior dance experience is necessary, and the class is open to all grade levels, boys and girls.  Monday 3:30-4:30

Irish Dance 2  Irish Dance 1 required.  The fundamentals including timing, proper footwork, and dance posture will continue to be emphasized.  Building on their first jig and reel steps, students will learn slightly more advanced steps in these dances.  At this level we start to see some variation between boy's and girls' steps.  A third type of dance, the slip jig, is traditionally done only by girls, so there will be times when the boys and girls are working on different material.    Starting second semester, students will begin to learn the 'hard shoe' dances, treble jig and hornpipe, with their unique rhythms and use of toe and heel taps.  Wednesday 3:30-4:30

Jazz is a contemporary dance style seen from Broadway to modern dance combining a variety of styles into an overall discipline that can broaden any student's dance repertoire.  Jazz classes can be taken in addition to the students' ballet techniques requirements.  Tuesday and Thursday 3:30-4:30
