Sandra Baggett

Sandra Baggett

I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama . I went to Judson College where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Mathematics. After teaching fifth grade in Huntsville, Alabama, for five years, I worked on a Master’s degree in Operations Research from the University of Alabama in Huntsville . Instead of completing my degree, I married Marion Baggett and had my first child, Jennifer. I also worked as a computer programmer for Sperry Support Services. We then moved to New York for two years where my husband taught at West Point and our son Andrew, was born.

Returning south from New York, we moved to Atlanta and I continued working with computers, computer software development and systems analysis. During this time I used much of the math I had studied in school, including Trigonometry, while programming interactive graphics software.

Twenty-one years ago I decided to return to teaching here at GACS. I have taught all levels of junior high math as well as Algebra 1. In October, 2005, I finally completed a Master’s degree in Educational Technology from Lesley University. I have coached the 6th and 7th grade math team for about 12 years and head the junior high math department. Teaching at GACS and working with technology here has been a joy and a privilege.

Now, in 2007, I’m teaching Pre-Algebra, Honors Pre-Algebra, coaching the Junior High Math team and supporting teachers in technology integration. My family now has expanded to include a great son-in-law and my wonderful, sweet granddaughter, Ansely, who is ten and in fifth grade.
