Joann Waldrop
I am beginning my 5th year teaching here at GACS and 10th year as a GACS parent! I have been married to the most wonderful man for 17 years and have a beautiful daughter and 3 precious dogs.
I obtained a Bachelor’s of Science from the Medical College of Georgia in 1986 and in 1989 I earned a Master’s of Science from Emory University.
Before coming to GACS I practiced as a registered nurse for 16 years doing patient care and nursing education. My experience includes staff nursing in critical care units, a Clinical Nurse Specialist in multiple areas within the hospital, and most recently I specialized as a Wound, Ostomy and Continence nurse(WOCN).
Prior to GACS, I was employed was an Assistant Program Director for the Emory University WOCN program. My responsibilities included classroom instruction, clinical supervision, and hands on patient care in an outpatient setting. My role also provided opportunities to lecture at professional conferences, in service groups and industry meetings and to publish articles and chapters for professional journals and texts.
My love for GACS as a parent, combined with a passion for teaching is what inspired me to pursue a career change from nursing to Jr. High Science education. Teaching at GACS has brought me a joy I’ve never experienced. Working in a place where we walk with Jesus every day is a blessing.
