Mrs. Patty Mankin

I teach fourth graders at GACS, and feel truly blessed to do so.  Prior to coming to GACS, I taught both fifth and sixth grades at schools in Texas, Louisiana, and other parts of Georgia.  I enjoy working with fourth graders, and I feel I’ve found my niche.  I grew up in Texas and am a graduate of Abilene Christian University.

All of the subject matter in fourth grade is interesting to me, but I have to say that Bible, math, and social studies are my favorites to teach.  I love to watch students as their minds “click” in understanding new math concepts, and I think it’s important for all of us to better understand the world in which we live.  The Bible stories we cover are exciting, and most of the students will say that Bible is one of their favorite subjects.  We are fortunate to be in a school where we can refer to the Bible and rely on prayer as we learn to work together.

Of course, no subject would be embraced enthusiastically if the student had difficulty reading.  We are excited about the reading programs we have at this school.  Students have many opportunities to read and be read to, as well.  It is my hope that your child will be turned on to reading this year, if they aren’t already.  I read daily to them orally and encourage them to read as much as possible on their own, beyond assigned reading.  This is truly the key to learning on many levels.

I am looking forward to a great year with your fourth grader this year.
